AWS at Wharton

Wharton Computing offers support to Wharton faculty and staff seeking to deploy IT services in the cloud using Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The AWS Cloud Environment

The Cloud Architecture team in Infrastructure and Services maintains a complex cloud environment consisting of more than 100 active accounts across departments, groups, and staff. Deployments are distributed across multiple U.S. regions to support resilience and performance. Additionally, cost anomaly monitoring is implemented to provide proactive financial governance. Core functions—including billing, security controls, authentication, and logging—are centrally managed to ensure consistency and oversight.

The Cloud Architecture Team

The Cloud Architecture Team is responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of the cloud environment. In close collaboration with the Cloud Center of Excellence, the team also shapes the organization’s cloud strategy and champions the adoption of industry best practices.
