Forward Your Wharton Gmail to a Personal Mail Inbox (Students)
Last Modified on 01/11/2024 3:26 pm EST
The following directions intend to guide you on how to setup forwarding from your Wharton Gmail (and Alumni Forwarding Address) to a personal address.
Before You Start
You will need the following before you can complete this task:
- An active Wharton Gmail or Alumni Forwarding Address
- An active personal Email
Note: Forwarding your email comes with an increased risk of deferred (delayed) messages and message bounces. For more information, please see our Common Problems Forwarding to Gmail article.
Forwarding Your Email
These steps will allow you to forward any future email sent to either your Wharton Gmail or your Alumni Forwarding Address to a personal email inbox.
Note: If you forward mail to a personal Gmail address, you will not have the ability to RSVP for event invites sent to your Wharton Gmail address. However, you will still be able to add the event to your calendar.
If you decide to forward your email, you will also be unable to use Wharton's Global Address List (GAL) in your alternate account. To use this address list, you must log into your Wharton Gmail account.
- Navigate to https://apps.wharton.upenn.edu/iam/forwarding/
- Login with your PennKey credentials if prompted
- Click the "Forward My Mail" tab
- Enter the address you want mail forwarded to in the box
- Click Update
Gmail users: If you forward your mail to a Gmail account, send any test messages through a different account. Gmail does not deliver mail you send or CC to yourself from your forwarded account.
Un-Forwarding Your Email
Send As Settings
Sending as your Wharton School Address (Short Address) or Alumni Forwarding Address from your personal Gmail account is not recommended due to limitations in functionality, however, if you would prefer this method, you can set it up by following the directions in one of the following articles:
