The Basics
Before you get to campus
✅ New Student Onboarding checklist. New MBA students should complete the tech-related MBA Onboarding Checklist – items like downloading mobile apps, enrolling in two-step verification and configuring self-service password reset for PennKey, and logging into your Microsoft Office 365 Account.
🧑💻 Zoom. Access your Zoom account for video conferencing; make sure to review our Zoom Security recommendations.
🔒Practice safe computing. If you think a message may be a phishing scam, don’t respond, and notify our Information Security Office by forwarding the message to security@wharton.upenn.edu. Start-of-term is a favorite time for hackers.
🦠 Antivirus and passwords. Keep your antivirus and firewall running, and regularly update your operating systems. To help manage your passwords, consider using a personal Dashlane account.
Once you’re on campus
- Connect to Wifi. Penn’s wireless network, AirPennNet, needs configuring the first time you connect to the main network. See our directions for more information, or attend your Pre-Term Technology Session.
- Get (re)Whartonized. If you didn't visit us during PreTerm, or only did the basics, use our online guide to “Whartonize” your devices, or make an appointment with one of us.

Other things to keep in mind:
- Class Recording Policy. All class sessions are recorded, barring exceptions for exams or guest speakers. Level of access to class recordings for a particular course is determined by each professor and should be detailed in each class’ syllabus. Recordings should not be shared without permission. You can access most Class recordings in Canvas.

Extras You'll Need (to Know)
- Penn Directory: Update the optional parts of your profile in the Penn Directory, too. This information feeds a lot of other software across the University.
- Name pronunciation in Canvas: You can now indicate how you prefer to be addressed by using the phonetic pronunciation and profile guidance in Canvas’s profile settings. (NameCoach is no longer available. )
